December 2024 On Hold Marketing of the Month
Binkelman
Merry Christmas?
There are two things Americans hold sacred: Santa Claus and industrial parts distributors. (Lime Jell-O brand gelatin is a distant third.) Yet, we poke fun at those top two in this Humor On Hold production for Binkelman Corporation, because 1) we don’t care who we hurt and 2) the Binkelman team likes the value that our unique content provides for their callers and, ultimately, them.
The company’s Marketing Manager Rebecca Conrad wrote, “As a long-time client of BusinessVoice, we love the laughs they have provided to our customers over the years through their creative On Hold Marketing scripts.”
Those laughs translate into fewer abandoned calls and happier callers who like and identify with Binkelman a little bit more.
“When I would be at conventions, I’d tell people about the kind of On Hold Messaging we have. Then, I’m out in Vegas, calling back to the office, having myself put on hold so the rest of the people at the convention could hear it. And they’re laughing because it’s just funny. Your service is very valuable to us.” – Dan Kazmierczak, retired CEO / Binkelman Corp.
The Theme
Our Chief Creative Officer Scott Greggory has written the Binkelman copy for close to 20 years. “Most brands treat Christmas – and a lot of other subjects – with unquestioned reverence,” he said. “But when we’re trying to differentiate our clients and entertain their audience, we have to be willing to break some unwritten rules. We’re trying to surprise and – hopefully – delight people.”
Scott says, “A lot of marketing folks think advertising itself should only be taken seriously, but I don’t believe the audience feels that way. And if you’re not creating content for the audience’s enjoyment, who are you doing it for?”
