NOTES:

The Basics

Along with our world-class art museum and zoo, the Toledo Mud Hens and their Fifth Third Field stadium are among our hometown’s five-star attractions.

We’ve provided On Hold Marketing for the Hens since 2001, and we couldn’t be more proud of our decades-long affiliation with the team.

The OHM content we write and produce for them informs callers about upcoming games, promotions, the ballpark experience and more.

Hens History

The longtime Triple A farm club of the Detroit Tigers, the Mud Hens began playing baseball in 1896. Several Mud Hens went onto Major League careers, including Kirby Puckett, Addie Joss, Joe Niekro, Casey Stengel, Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander.

And what about that great name? With their short wings and long legs, birds known as mud hens lived in the area around Bay View Park, a swampy section of Toledo where the first team played. The birds were so prevalent that “Mud Hens” seemed like a logical nickname for the team.
