August 2024 On Hold Marketing of the Month
Sofo Foods
A Long History
In the late 1920s at age 14, Antonio Sofo left his hometown of Bagnara, Italy to come to the United States. He shoveled coal at a Brooklyn, New York factory to make his living during those first years. But, by the early 1940s, Antonio had moved to Toledo, Ohio and started selling imported Italian foods from the back of his truck.
Three generations later, the Sofo family still runs their retail operation in Toledo, as well as distribution centers in three states. With more than 70 trucks and 400+ employees, Sofo Foods now serves customers across the country.
A Long Relationship
BusinessVoice has been creating On Hold Marketing for Sofo Foods since 2003. We provide their callers with information on specific foods, new menu ideas, food-related events, the brand’s interesting history and other topics.
“Sofo’s is such a beloved institution and family in our community,” said BusinessVoice Creative Consultant Caley Dennis. “In each script, I try to find a new approach to celebrate and communicate their values and longstanding reputation, while showcasing their products in an informative and engaging way.”
